Christmas Trees and Other Things

It is that time of year again-when everyone put up their trees and hangs their stockings. I like anything to do with decorating or Christmas so I got the tree and the other Christmas decorations out today. It took a while to get everything out,  but I finally did.

After I had dragged everything into the doll space, I set out to work.
First I got the tree in position and tied the skirt on around it.
Mini-Grace helped me untangle the garland while Kit sorted out the other decorations.
Mini-Grace loaded herself down with ornaments, she looked as though she would tip over!
I couldn't quite reach the top of the tree to place the angel on so I hoisted Mini-Grace up.
Mini-Grace really enjoyed the tiny nativity that we set out on the table.
While Mini-Grace busied herself with the Nativity I decided to hang up the stockings and finish up decorating since it appeared as though Kit had disappeared yet again.(How does she do this?)
After getting a thumbs up from MGL, Mini-Grace and I sat down to enjoy a nice candy cane.
I had given up on Kit until I walked into the doll space a couple of hours later to find the table decorated and covered in baking supplies.
Two things I learned today-
1. Mini-Grace looks cute in a Santa hat.
2. Kit can bake one mean cookie

Gobble, Gobble: a Craft for Dolls

I haven't done a craft in a while so I decided to share another one. Today we are making a turkey hat. You will need-
1 3oz plastic cup
craft glue
elastic
hole punch
scissors
2 googly eyes
tan or brown construction paper
green, yellow, orange, and red construction paper
(You do not, however, need a Mini-Grace. She has grown on me and has become my little friend.)
First you are going to have to punch two holes in your cup, each one directly across from the other. These holes need to be close to the opening of the cup.
Next you are going to cut off a small piece of elastic, 6 inches should be enough.
You will have to loop the eleastic through each hole and tie them off with knots. It should fit nicely on your head.

Next you are going to cut out your tan paper into this shape.(I'm not really sure what this shape is? A rounded off rectangle?)
Wrap the paper around your cup and glue it on. Make sure that it goes just between your two holes.
Now you are going to cut out the feathers. They are kind of shaped like triangles.
Once you get them all cut out, then you need to decide how you want them to be arranged. I did mine in a red-yellow-orange-green pattern.
Glue all of the feathers onto the opposite side as your tan piece.
Next you are going to have to cut out the gobble from your red paper. It should look something like in the picture above.
You glue the gobble onto the center of your tan paper. You will also need to cut out a triangle for his beak(I took the liberty to draw on a mouth) and glue it on top of the top part of the gobble. You will also need to take your  googly eyes and glue them on above the beak.
Even though this picture is very dark, it allows you to see a clear view of the finished project.  I honestly think it looks a little dork-chic. MGL told me I just looked like a dork so I am going to wear it all through Thanksgiving dinner just to mess with her. Have a very happy turkey day!(please don't get trampled on Black Friday)

Meet a Mini

MGL went to town today and came home with some buck toothed tiny thing. This tiny thing insists that it is to be called Mini-Grace. It claims  that it is an AG doll but I am  not so sure about that, unless it got hit by a shrink way or something. MGL says that in a few months a regular sized doll that looks just like this little pip squeak. Kit was talking to Mini-Grace and claims that she is quite nice, but I do not trust the thing. I am afraid it will try to bite my ankles or steal something from me in the middle of the night. I suppose I will humor you and show you what this shrunken beast looks like, but don't think I will ever like it. MGL says that I will warm up to her in the future; I don't believe that bit of hog wash at all.

Civil War Days

MGL took me to Washington State Park with her this weekend since I was feeling better than I was last week. I took a little bit of time to tour some of the buildings before the battle reenactment in the afternoon. I had a lot of fun looking at all of the old places but I ran out of buildings after a while so I headed outdoors.
This magnolia tree is one of the focal points of the park. It is HUGE! The town had to close the roads that run around it because it has grown over them.
After waiting around for a while we got to finally see the reenactment, it was really fun to see all the guns and cannons and the people fighting. MGL took a couple of pictures of the battle for me but this one was my favorite as I have recently fallen in love with horses. Even though I know MGL just carried me with her because she felt bad about abandoning me when I was sick, I can appreciate her giving something, even if it was entirely guilt ridden.

Scary as a Scarecrow

I would have posted early than I am now but unfortunately I didn't heed my own advice and went trick or treating. I did get lots of things I wanted( one word CANDY!) and one thing I didn't(aka a cold). I have been in bed sick for the past couple days while MGL has been busy typing up a novel for Nanowrimo, whatever it is it makes it where MGL doesn't want to do anything with her two favorite dolls anymore. Kit was put in charge of taking care of me by bringing me medicine and soup, but did she? The answer to that is a big fat no. The only thing she did for me was eat every last bit of my candy except for the few stale peppermints that the unfriendly people give out. I am sorely mad at both MGL and Kit for not helping me in my time of need. I am however not mad at you, oh great and mighty reader so I will share with you a picture of my costume.

I know this has already been posted at AGPT by MGL but I figure that I will break down the details for you. Here goes:
MGL spent a couple of days making this horrendous thing that she made me wear. I was kind of okay with modeling it for her even though the hay was a little itchy to wear. I didn't really start to freak out until Kit and MGL started tying me to some sticks. I had to hang in the air for about ten minutes for this photo to be taken, they assured me it would be okay, yet it wasn't, it was painful. They just stood away from me taking pictures a laughing at my pain. This was done way back in June and it is still emotionally scarring to me. So all ye dolls should heed my advice and never, ever agree to dress up as a scarecrow unless you are okay with being tied up on some sticks.
